Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc. (MUFG) is the largest of the Japanese mega-banks and among the largest banks in the world by assets. MUFG was formed on October 1, 2005, following the merger of Mitsubishi Tokyo Financial Group, Inc. and UFJ Holdings, Inc. The Group comprises five primary operating companies, including MUFG Bank, Ltd., Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation (MUTB), Mitsubishi UFJ Securities Holdings Co.
