DBRS Morningstar Discontinues Global Methodology for Rating Mortgage Insurance Companies

DBRS Morningstar discontinued its “Global Methodology for Rating Mortgage Insurance Companies” (the Mortgage Insurance Methodology) following the publication of its updated “Global Methodology for Rating Insurance Companies and Insurance Organizations” (the Insurance Methodology) on August 31, 2022.

The updated Insurance Methodology now incorporates specific considerations for rating mortgage insurance companies globally, which maintains a consistent treatment for a broader universe of insurance organizations.

There are no outstanding ratings associated with the Mortgage Insurance Methodology. Any ratings that were previously covered under the Mortgage Insurance Methodology are now covered under the Insurance Methodology.
